Tools for trading
The hardware, software and platforms I recommend for trading seriously.
Hardware
Computer
You don’t need a lot of raw power, you need reliability. Go for a decent CPU and decent RAM so the data gets handled and processed quickly.
Windows
I’d suggest a desktop, a gaming laptop or a workstation. Make sure you can connect:
- 1–2 monitors if you trade off the DOM
- 3–4 monitors if you trade off charts
Apple
Any Apple Silicon machine (M1, M2, M3) is fine for trading, but bear in mind:
- Base chips: up to 1 external monitor
- Pro chips: up to 2 external monitors
- Max chips: up to 4 external monitors
Screens
If you only use the DOM, one screen is enough — two at most, and optional. For chart trading I’d suggest between 2 and 4.
Software
Tools for Mac
To trade on a Mac you’ll want Parallels.
Platforms
The best platform, without a doubt, is Sierra Chart. There are others, but that’s the one I recommend.
